BCiS 2013 Member Show

“The Art of Illustration” is the BCiS 2013 Member Show, an exhibit showcasing the imaginative and varied styles of our outstanding area illustrators, held in the Cultural Center of the Pearl S. Buck Estate, from June 26 to 28.

Our first Member Show will run from Wednesday June 26 to Friday evening June 28, 2013. There will be a wine and cheese reception to meet the artists of the Bucks County Illustrators Society on Friday from 7 to 9 PM, which is open to the public. The Pearl S. Buck estate is located at 520 Dublin Road, Perkasie, PA 18944.  For directions see this page on the PSBI website.

HOURS:

Wednesday June 26: Exhibit open from 10 AM to 4 PM, a $5 admission fee to the grounds will be required, which also includes garden tours and other events.  From 6 PM to 8PM there is no admission fee, all events are open to the public at that time.

Thursday, June 27: Exhibit open from 10 AM to 4 PM, a $5 admission fee to the grounds will be required, which also includes garden tours and other events.

Friday, June 28: Exhibit open from 10 AM to 4 PM, a $5 admission fee to the grounds will be required, which also includes garden tours and other events. From 7 to 9 PM there is no admission fee to attend the reception in the Cultural Center for the BCIS exhibit.

“The Art of Illustration” will highlight the work of the area’s professional illustrators who continue the legacy of the arts in Bucks County. Illustrations by BCIS members have appeared in magazines, adult and children’s books and television series, and on textiles, collectibles and greeting cards. Several members have won awards from the Society of Illustrators in New York City and the Philadelphia Sketch Club for their work.

Illustrators who are featured in the exhibit include Pat Achilles, James Bennett, Dot Bunn, Joe DeVito, Heather Davulcu, Ponder Goembel, Pamela Hamilton, Monika Hinterwaldner, Deb Hoeffner, Becca H. Klein, Denise Callanan-Kline, Kim Kurki, Linda LaRose, Christina Maniet, Kathryn Maxwell, Steve Ottey, Rebecca Rhodin, Dave Song, Joe Tacynec, Eric Wight and Glenn Zimmer.

Special programs by illustrators are also scheduled during the days of June 26, 27 and 28. Children’s book illustrator Ponder Goembel will give a drawing demonstration geared for elementary school children. Painter and illustrator Deb Hoeffner will give a presentation on her illustration process and collaboration with a self-publishing author in the making of the book “Lucky.” (Dates and times to be announced.)

The show runs in conjunction with the Birthday Festival and Grand Re-Opening of the Pearl S. Buck House.  Tours of the newly refurbished home of the Pulitzer Prize-winning author and her estate gardens will take place during the three days, and a display of illustrations from the books of Pearl S. Buck will be included in “The Art of Illustration.”
